Steg
is a unique village in the it's plan. The whole village is built around a
central meadow, in two circles either side of the main road to Malbun - one
being larger than the other.
At 1300 m above sea level, Steg offers locals and visitors with a peaceful and clean environment to relax and enjoy nature. Steg lies on the mountain stream - Samina - on it's path down into Austria and the town of Frastanz. This provides keen walkers with a less energetic path which offers the most vibrant colours in Autumn - but remember your passport if you walk this path!

Steg is often overlooked when visitors wind their way up to Malbun, especially in winter. It does offer one ski lift, and is most famous for its Nordic skiing courses along the Samina valley floor. During the rest of the year it is both an ideal starting point for mountain walks, and for those who like to climb (namely unlike those of you with dodgy knees like mine), it is an ideal goal for a mountain walk, with restaurants available to refresh the weary walker, and a bus service back down to the valley floor.
If you love the mountains, Liechtenstein has more to offer than Malbun - give Steg a try - you are sure to love it.
